The Philosophy of No Philosophy
Welcoming Michelle & Daniel Garner, and an update on postponing 'Transformative Philosophy'
Dear Listener,
First up I’d love to share this dialogue between Michelle & Daniel Garner of O.G. Rose, with a very warm welcome to Michelle joining Daniel on the Voicecraft podcast. It was recorded a few weeks ago and released on their channel, where it was titled ‘Transformative Philosophy’, inspired by the Voicecraft course that was set to commence tomorrow on October 10. (You can now apply to be part of it next year).
If you listened to last episode’s conversation between Cam Duffy and Ethan Wells, you’ll know this project is more regularly looking to include contributions from its network members and collaborators on the podcast. And I found this conversation a really beautiful example of philosophy that covered so many important notes which might come as some surprise, including:
Transformative philosophy as ‘the philosophy of no philosophy’
The importance of fighting
Spiritual warfare
The creativity of silence
The art of ideas and relating
Philosophy as a community activity and so much more
You can find links to a whole range of O.G. Rose’s podcasts, writings, videos and more over at the show notes here, as well as a link to their recently published book, Thoughts, here.
And you can open this episode in the player of your choice using this link.

On the postponement of Transformative Philosophy.
The course isn’t going ahead this year as there weren’t quite enough places filled to crew the ship for the journey invited.
I’m grateful that the faculty have all indicated interest to stay on board for the revamping of this next year, pending dates. I think it’s reasonable to look at April as the month the course is likely to commence. Between now and then I’ll be keeping an application / registration form open on the Academy page, and incorporate the learnings from this process. If you’re someone who has followed this journey and feel you have some perspective to share: whether you were considering taking the course yourself, or were in some way attracted to or perhaps somehow counterintuitively repelled by the invitation, perhaps you might also consider responding to that form to share that perspective with me? I’d love to learn what may have been your barriers to signing up, or points of uncertainty there may have been about the call of the course itself.
Although I know this journey would have been profoundly worthwhile to take for the right people — the opening that its postponement creates is something I can appreciate.
One example is this conference hosted by Cadell Last at Philosophy titled ‘Thus Spoke Zarathustra: Spiritual Leadership for Our Time’, which I will be contributing to alongside many others — including previous Voicecraft guests Alex Ebert, Alexander Bard, Daniel & Michelle Garner, Carl H Smith, as well as Cadell himself. You can find out how to listen / watch / engage with that via the link above.
Discernment on the Way,
Tim
Thank you so much for having us on your podcast Tim! ☺️
