Voicecraft Dispatch | Radical Healing, War & Unity
Responding to the energy tearing us apart. A recent film, free book, and forthcoming event.
Earlier this month Voicecraft published an interview with Elder Les Spencer, filmed on the banks of the Yarra. In a time of growing tension and inter-cultural conflict, Les recounts stories, principles and findings from an era of unique inter-cultural ‘peacehealing’ in Australia.
You can access the show notes for this episode, which contains links to the podcast (audio) only version, as well as a free copy of Les’ excellent book, Nurturing Community for Wellness, here.
Les will be joining Voicecraft on Friday the 24th November for an evening of deep reflection and conversation. The theme for the evening is War & Unity, and we hope it will be a welcome opportunity to slow down and cultivate an integrity of relating with the turmoil of local and global events.
If you feel called to participate you can access tickets here. Tickets help to pay for food, venue hire, facilitation, tech, and the foundation of a relational field that can help us ground, connect, and orient among the various discordances, challenges, and potentials of our time.
A note on the topic
We appreciate this topic is among the most intense for many to relate with right now.
We cannot promise that, to the degree you step in, there will not be challenging energy to navigate.
But we can promise that this is a place where you can come, listen, and engage socially in the in-between spaces without finding yourself put on the spot.
We also have several people in context who are among the most capable people you could possibly imagine to meet you well in the process, with your wellbeing at heart.
Voicecraft events are places where attendees are treated with profound respect. They are places where you will have the opportunity to practice the process of relating and of crafting voice. These can be artforms—wonderful artforms—and they are scarcely given opportunity to develop in many cultural contexts.
If you would like to attend the event, you can learn more here. If you would prefer to support the events so that others can come instead, or so that the context can live, grow, and contribute, you can make a one time donation here.
If you know of someone you believe would appreciate the opportunity to participate and who will share in the spirit of curiosity, care and respect, please forward them this email.
