Voicecraft Dispatch | War & Unity (VC Live IX)
An invitation to slow down for wiser communication, and other bits.
The first part of this email is likely more relevant to those who are local to Melbourne Australia, the second may be more relevant to readers and listeners around the world.
Alongside the continued fracturing of our media and communications landscape, the recent Australian referendum on ‘The Voice’, and the unfolding conflict in Israel / Palestine have amplified the tensions and challenges of sharing voice together.
In response to this, on November 24 Voicecraft Live returns in Melbourne Australia. The theme for the evening is War & Unity, and the event is an invitation to cultivate your capacity to relate with the very process of relating with these topics.
More fundamental than the presentation of pre-established ideas, the call here is to learn the art of sharing attention, and to develop skills in thinking, perceiving, and communicating. It is an invitation to those who are earlier and later in your journey of relating with these themes and the practice of real philosophical exchange, because this context is invited with the very intention to cultivate a field that makes mutual learning across perspectives, disciplines, and identities possible.

In other news, the Voicecraft podcast and YouTube channel will begin to release more content over the coming weeks, including a unique interview with a keeper of a rare Australian lineage of transformative community wellness process, Les Spencer, filmed in a few inches of mud on a beautiful afternoon.
Meanwhile, contributors to The Voicecraft Network have engaged in reflection about the telos of the space, which is shaping up for an exciting new epoch in 2024. Yesterday we recorded a fantastic group dialogue in response to the themes of War & Reconstitution, which was shared with Network members.
